Tutorial Manage Contacts on Galaxy S8 - Contacts is very important now. Tutorial Manage Contacts on Galaxy S8

The Contacts app is different from the Contacts tab in the Phone app. Although both list the contacts in your phone and accounts, the available options and functions are different.

Add New Contact on Galaxy S8
Use the following procedure Galaxy S8 Manage contacts to add a new Galaxy S8 contact.
  1. From a Galaxy S8 Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Contacts > Create contact, and then tap contact fields to enter information.
    • Choose a storage account for the contact. You can store the contact on the device or sync it with an account.
    • Tap Contact photo to assign a picture to the new contact.
    • Enter a name and other contact information.
      • Tap Add field to enter additional entries.
      • Tap Remove field to remove an entry.
      • Tap View more for additional fields.
      • Tap the label to the right of an entry to choose a label for the field (for example, Home or Work).
    • Tap Scan business card to import contact information from a business card through the device’s camera.
  3. Tap Save.

When editing a contact, you can tap a field and change or delete the information, or you can add more fields to the contact’s list of information.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Contacts, and then tap the contact to select it.

  4. Tap any of the fields to add, change, or delete information.
  5. Tap Save.
Share, Import, or Export Contacts
When you share a contact, the contact’s information is sent as a vCard file (VCF) or as a text file. You can share a vCard using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct, attach it to a message, or save it to a storage location.

Share a Contact
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Contacts, and then tap the contact to select it.
  3. Tap Details > Share.
  4. Choose whether to send the contact as a vCard file (VCF) or as a Text.
  5. Choose a sharing method and follow the prompts.

Import Contacts
Your phone can import contacts from an installed SD Card / Memory Card(not included).
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Contacts > More options > Manage contacts.
  3. Tap Import/Export contacts.
  4. Tap Import and follow the prompts.
Transfer Data from Your Old Device
Use Samsung Smart Switch to transfer contacts, photos, and other content from your old device. You must connect Galaxy S8 to old device. You can also use the included USB connector to copy content quickly and easily from your old device, without installing the Smart Switch app. The USB option must be set to Media device (MTP) on the other device. Transferring content with a USB cable may increase battery consumption. Make sure your battery is fully charged.
Share, Import, Export Contacts Galaxy S8
  1. Select Galaxy S8 Smart Switch during setup.
    • From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps > Settings > Backup and reset > Smart Switch.

Galaxy S8 Back up and Restore
Backing up and restoring data keep your personal information, app data, and settings safe on your device. You can back up your sensitive information and access or restore it later. It can restore your previous data to your new Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+. You must sign in to your Google or Samsung account to back up or restore data.

Using a Samsung account
  • On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Cloud and accounts → Backup → Back up my data for the Samsung account, tap the switches next to the items you want to back up to activate them, and then tap BACK UP NOW.
Data will be backed up to Samsung Cloud. Refer to Samsung Cloud for more information.
  1. To set the device to automatically back up data, tap the Auto back up switch to activate it.
  2. To restore backup data from Samsung Cloud using a Samsung account, tap Restore. Select a device and the data types you want to restore and tap RESTORE NOW. The selected data will be restored to your device.
Using a Google account
  • On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Cloud and accounts → Backup and tap the Back up my data switch for the Google account to activate it. Tap Backup account and select an account as the backup account.
To restore data using a Google account, tap the Automatic restore switch to activate it. When you reinstall apps, backed up settings and data will be restored.

Export Contacts
If you are saving contacts to an account that does not automatically back them up to the Cloud, you can manually back them up to an optional installed SD card for re-import if needed.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Contacts > More options > Manage contacts.
  3. Tap Import/Export contacts.
  4. Tap Export and follow the prompts.
Link or Unlink Contacts
When you have contacts from various accounts, you may have multiple similar entries for a single contact. Contacts lets you link multiple entries into a single contact.
To link contacts follow this Galaxy S8 Plus Manual:
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Contacts, and then tap the contact to select it.
  3. Tap Details > More options > Link contacts.
  4. Tap contacts to choose them.
  5. Tap Link.
To unlink contacts:

You can send an email to members of a group.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Contacts > More options > Groups, and then tap a group.
  3. Tap More options > Send email.
  4. Tap contacts to select them, or tap the All checkbox at the top of the screen to select all, and then tap Done.
    • Only group members that have an email address in their records are displayed.
  5. Choose an email account and follow the prompts.
